I am proud to be from a family farm because it has shaped who I am and how I see the world. Growing up on a farm taught me early that nothing comes easy and that hard work is not optional, it’s a way of life. From long days during seeding and harvest to early mornings and late nights, I learned that success comes from showing up even when you’re tired.
Being raised on a family farm has also taught me responsibility. Equipment needs maintenance, and crops depend on timing and attention. There’s no skipping work just because you don’t feel like it. Knowing that my family relies on everyone pulling their weight has helped me become dependable and accountable.
I’m also proud of the values farming has given me. Patience is a big one. You can’t rush crops or control the weather, so you learn to adapt and stay calm when things don’t go as planned. Farming has shown me resilience and how to keep going after a bad year, a breakdown, or a tough decision. It’s taught me gratitude too, because you learn to appreciate the good years when they come.
Another reason I’m proud is the connection to tradition. Our farm isn’t just land; it represents generations of effort, risk, and commitment. Knowing that my family has worked this land for 100 years now makes me feel part of something bigger than myself.
Finally, being from a family farm has given me pride in feeding people. Farming matters. It supports communities and provides food for others, and that’s something to stand behind. No matter where life takes me, I’ll always be proud to say I come from a family farm.
