Working Within The Family

For me, working within the family brings many ups and a few downs and many laughs. It can be lots of fun on our farm some days and then some days it can be a high stress area. Working within the family is nice because we all get along (most of the time). We all understand the type of way we farm, what we prioritize in and what we need to work on as a farm in general. Another reason it is nice with my family is because I get to do it with my family  and be with them and spend time with them. While being on the farm working with my family we also have some bad days or higher stress days. An example of a high stress day would be buying chemicals and fertilizer for the upcoming year, determining prices and what crops to grow. Another stress in our lives which isn't controllable would be the lack of rain we get, we can't decide when it rains so when we go a month or months without rain it causes stress and worry about the crops potential, yield and paying off any bills that need to be paid. Benefits of working with family means that you get to run equipment, work on equipment, repairs, seed runs, fertilizer trips, and hauling grain. These are all things I like to do while working on our farm. As well, working with family allows a lot of responsibilities and trust. Having a certain job to do you are expected to do, earning trust from your family can go a long way. Whether it be farm related or not having a certain level of responsibility, trust and commitment should be dedicated to everything you do in your life.
